In the Bus (255 words)

“Ken! Wake up!! It’s eight o’clock now. You’re going to be late for school,” Ken’s mother yelled from the kitchen.
“It’s 8:00?!?” He quickly jumped out of bed because school started at 8:30. He washed his face, dressed, picked up his bag and went downstairs.
Ken rushed out of his house and ran to the bus stop. He barely caught it. “What a relief!” he said and took a seat next to an older man.
At the next stop, a lady using a walking stick boarded the bus. He offered his seat to her. “Thank you very much,” said the lady. She looked glad, so he was glad, too.
Later, Ken got off the bus at his school. Then, he noticed something, “Oh! I left my bus pass on the bus and my wallet at home! What should I do?” He checked his pockets and did not have any money.
The older man came off the bus, too. He saw Ken in trouble. He told the boy, “I’ll help you. Is this enough?”
“It’s very kind of you! Thank you very much,” said Ken. “Please give me your phone number. I will pay you back soon.”
The man said, “That is not necessary. Please give the money to someone who needs it. I am happy because you are happy. The same as you felt with the lady. She was happy because of you. Pass it on to others, so more people can be happy.”
From that moment, Ken tried to spread happiness throughout his life.
バスの中で（レベル4 – 255語）

「ケン！起きなさい！！もう8時よ。学校に遅れるわよ！」ケンのお母さんが台所から声を掛けました。
「8時?!」学校は8時半から始まるので、ケンは慌ててベッドから飛び起き、急いで顔を洗い、服を着替え、カバンを持って階段を駆け下りました。
ケンは急いで家を出て、バス停まで走りました。なんとかバスに乗ることができると、「ああ、よかった！」と言って年配の男性の隣に座りました。
次のバス停で、杖をついた女性がバスに乗ってきました。ケンは女性に席を譲りました。「ありがとうございます。」と女性が言いました。女性が嬉しそうだったのでケンも嬉しくなりました。
その後、ケンは学校でバスを降りました。そのとき、あることに気付きました。「あ！バスの中に定期券を忘れたし、お財布も家に置いてきちゃった。どうしよう？」
ポケットを探してみましたが、お金はありません。年配の男性もバスから降りてきました。彼はケンが困っているのに気付いて、言いました。
「力を貸そう。これで足りるかい？」
「ご親切にありがとうございます！電話番号を教えてもらえますか。すぐにお返しします。」とケンが言いました。
すると男性は言いました。
「その必要ないよ。必要な人にそのお金を渡してあげなさい。君が嬉しいと、私も嬉しいんだ。それは君があの女性に感じたのと同じなんだよ。彼女は君のおかげで幸せな気持ちになったんだ。それを他のひとにも渡していってください。そうすればもっと多くの人が幸せになれるんだ。」
その瞬間から、ケンは残りの人生で幸せを広めようと心掛けるようになりました。
