A mother bird was looking for some food in a beautiful forest. Suddenly, she saw a big fire! Smoke and flames were everywhere!<\/p>\n

She thought of her baby chicks. So, she flew home as fast as she could. It was difficult to see and breathe through the smoke.<\/p>\n

The mother bird finally reached her nest. Since smoke rises, she decided to move her three chicks to the base of a tree. At the bottom, she covered the crying chicks by spreading her wings over them.<\/p>\n

The fire was coming closer, but she never left them. Soon after, the fire was above them. The mother bird tried her best but, she died.<\/p>\n

A few days after the fire, a park ranger was walking by. He heard some chicks crying. He walked over and saw the dead mother covering the three chicks. They were alive!
\nThe ranger realized that this brave, loving mother bird gave up her life to save her children.<\/p>\n
